Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 3, 20261. Who we are
Jaggo is a vocabulary learning app for readers. References to "we", "our", or "us" in this policy refer to the individual developer who publishes Jaggo on Google Play. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at info@jaggo.cc.
2. What data we collect and why
We collect the minimum information needed to provide the service:
- Email address — Required to create and identify your account. Used only for authentication and, if you request it, password reset emails.
- Your word list — The words, example sentences, and translations you save while reading, in any language. Stored on our server so your dictionary syncs across devices and is preserved if you reinstall the app.
- App settings — Your chosen learning language, native language, and lesson preferences. Stored so they restore correctly when you change devices.
- Lesson activity — Counts of lessons completed and your current streak. Used only to display your progress statistics inside the app. No timestamps or behavioral analytics are collected.
- Translation and grammar requests — When you ask for a translation or grammar explanation, the word you selected — and, when scanning a book, the sentence it appears in — is sent to our server to generate the response. We do not store these requests after the response is returned.
- Error diagnostics — If the app encounters an unexpected error, a technical error report (time, severity, and error message) is sent to our server so we can fix bugs. These reports are not used for analytics or profiling.
3. Data we do NOT collect
- Your real name or any identity beyond your email address
- Phone number
- Precise or approximate location
- Contacts or address book
- Camera images or photos — the camera is used on-device for OCR text scanning only; images are never uploaded to our servers
- Microphone or audio recordings
- Health or fitness data
- Device advertising ID
- Browsing or search history outside the app
4. AI-generated content
When you look up a word you encountered while reading, Jaggo may suggest a translation using an AI language model running on our server. These suggestions are generated automatically and may occasionally be incorrect.
You are always in control: suggestions are shown as options — you can edit or ignore them before saving. If you see a suggestion that is wrong or offensive, you can tap the flag icon next to "Suggestions" to report it. We review flagged suggestions to improve quality over time.
5. Subscriptions and payments
Jaggo offers an optional paid subscription sold through Google Play. All payment processing is handled by Google — we never see or store your credit card number or any payment instrument details.
When your purchase is verified, Google Play provides us with a purchase token and product identifier. We use these only to activate your subscription on our server. We do not share them with any other party.
6. How we store and protect your data
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+).
- Authentication uses short-lived JWT access tokens and longer-lived refresh tokens, stored securely on your device using the platform's secure storage.
- Our server is hosted on infrastructure that applies encryption at rest and regular security updates.
- We retain your data for as long as your account is active.
7. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:
- Google Play Billing — for in-app subscription processing. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Google Sign-In (optional) — if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your email address and a unique identifier from Google. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs, crash-reporting services, or advertising networks. Error diagnostics (see section 2) are sent only to our own server.
8. Your rights and choices
- Access your data — You can view your word list and settings at any time inside the app.
- Delete your account — Go to Menu → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your email address, word list, settings, and lesson history from our servers. Deletion is processed immediately and cannot be undone.
- Export your data — Contact us at info@jaggo.cc to request a copy of your stored data.
- Notifications — Daily lesson reminders require your permission before they are shown. You can disable them at any time in your device's system notification settings.
9. Children's privacy
Jaggo is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the Last updated date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
